Pick and mix one tasty option from each of the five core food groups to create a healthy lunchbox every day:
- Fruit (eg fresh, frozen, pureed and canned in natural juice)
- Vegetables, legumes and beans
- Milk, yoghurt, cheese and alternatives
- Lean meats and poultry, fish, eggs, tofu, nuts and seeds, and legumes/beans
- Grain (cereal) foods
- Plain water
Snack ideas for 3yo kinder could include:
- Cut up fruit/banana
- Half a sandwich/wrap
- Homemade muffin/biscuit/slice
- Dry biscuits with cheese/Vegemite
- Raw veggies with hummus
- Saltanas/dried fruit
- Popcorn
Try to avoid or limit anything in wrapping/packets, processed ‘kids’ snacks, sweets/lollies or chocolates and tubs of yoghurt.
