Eastmont Preschool playground

The Eastmont Pre School Association was formed in June 1964.  A lease was entered into with the City of Nunawading for a block of land in Frank Street, Vermont in August 1966.

The Pre School Centre which cost in excess of $20,000 was financed by grants from the Department of Health ($6,000), the City of Nunawading ($2,000) with the balance being raised by voluntary effort by the Committees.  This included a Commonwealth Bank loan of $6,000 obtained through a Co-Operative Society which was specially formed for the purpose.

Work on the building began early in 1968 and the Centre opened for classes in September.  The Pre School Centre was designed by William H Smart, Architect, and was constructed by R. Bruce Jones, Builder, both of Vermont.

The building has many unusual features, which includes floor heating operated by a thermostatically controlled gas hot water unit.  In addition, a seamless floor covering is provided and this together with the natural finishes virtually provided a maintenance free building.

In 1977, a storage shed was built at the back of the Pre School building.

Over the years Eastmont Pre-school has developed a stimulating and challenging play based curriculum, that will enable your child to explore and understand their world around them.  This has been nurtured by caring and dedicated staff and committees of management and a solid parent base.
